Live Blog | The Carrie Diaries S1E1 through S1E3 (SPOILERS!!!)

The Carrie Diaries: 

S1E1: "Pilot"

Carrie starts junior year at high school after a family tragedy: losing her mother to cancer, and feels watched by everyone, which leaves her feeling a bit self-conscious on her first day. She and her sister, Doret's relationship are struggling. Doret stole a purse that their mother had given to Carrie, which turns out to be ruined, so Carrie has to get creative to fix it. Carrie gets some exciting news: an opportunity to intern in Manhattan, NY! She meets a woman named LaRissa who absolutely loves her bag and wants to "shoot" it (photograph it with models). LaRissa gifts Carrie with a fabulous dress, and she parties with her new friend after her interning job, drinking champagne and meeting the first gay couple that she's ever met, who drop a hint that at least one person she has met is probably gay, but doesn't know it yet. It turns out to be more true than she imagined. She doesn't tell the whole truth about her age or that she's in high school. She shows up late and her sister is missing, but she comes home the next day a bit hung over. Carrie cracks and says she can't deal with worrying about her sister and having to be the mature one all the time anymore. She is grounded for 2 weeks for being an hour late past curfew. Mouse's boyfriend is ignoring her, while Mag's boyfriend won't have sex with her because he is still trying to figure out his sexual identity. Mags is being unfaithful and cheating on him with a deputy from her father's work; her father is the chief of the police department. Mouse's college boyfriend, Seth, is ignoring her.

S1E2: "Lie With Me"

Carrie and Sebastian start hanging out more and keeping getting interrupted before they can kiss. Carrie and Doret start getting along better, an even having fun together. Carrie brings her purse to the shoot, but has to sneak off from her b*tchy bosses watchful eye, and has to lie to do so. She gets back to the office late and has to sacrifice her new Dior scarf that LaRissa gave her, just to get herself out of hot water. Walt reveals he's not in love with Mags. It made me cry. Carrie's dad banned her from hanging out with Sebastian after catching them kissing. Carrie's dad meets a woman at the store when trying to find tampons for Carrie. Carrie later finds out that Sebastian is a client of her dad's. Walt breaks up with Maggie (Mags).

S1E3: "Read Before Use"

Mouse has a "date" with Seth in Manhattan, and Maggie tells her to act a certain way, so he'll "stay interested", but she just wants to do something casual, like get ice cream. Carrie reads her dad's file on Sebastian and finds out that Sebastian has a history. He got kicked out of his last school for messing around with his art history teacher. Doret steals a hamster, names it Morrissey, and later it gets lost. Carrie hangs out with Sebastian, and they kiss some more, and she says "wow! where did you learn to kiss like that" and he replies "I had a good teacher." To which she suddenly "has to go" and runs off with her friend Mouse to Manhattan and goes to an art exhibit with LaRissa. The art exhibit turns out to just be an ex-porn star opening her legs and "reclaiming her vagina", or showing it to the world. Mouse runs off out of embarrassment, but Carrie sees and it looks normal to her. The woman says Carrie reminds her of herself and tell her not to let a man make decisions for her, but then tells her to show them her vagina.. So weird. Carrie's father, Tom Bradshaw, gets pushed into the dating scene, and keeps getting phone numbers. Mag's destroys "Bear-Bear" the bear that Walt won for her. LaRissa judges Carrie for not "owning her power" and not making something of herself, but Carrie explains that maybe her friend thinks it's a good idea, maybe the porn star does, too, but she doesn't, and that's her owning her power. LaRissa says she has a point, and they say goodbye. Mags shows up to see Carrie, but ends up asking Doret for help fixing Bear-Bear. Doret fixes him while Mags searches for le hamster, Morrissey. Carrie gets in trouble when she admits she went through her dad's files. Mr. Bradshaw finds Morissey and decides Doret can keep him. Carrie tells Sebastian that she knows, and he freaks out because he didn't even know he had a lawyer. He says it's not going to work between them because of the snooping and suspicions and complicatedness. He leaves and doesn't want to see her again. Mr. Bradshaw takes the girls to the pet shop to buy Morrissey some things, like a cage and food, etc. and he finds out that Doret stole him, and so he talks to shop keeper and ends up finally paying for him.
